You can’t take your eyes off the shiny varnish of a brand—new car, but everyday operation does its job – the former gloss gradually disappears. Under the influence of sunlight, snow and rain, the body paint inevitably fades, small stones cause scratches. Street dust, bitumen, chemicals contained in the atmosphere settle on the paint, are poorly washed off and eaten into it. As a result, various degrees of damage are formed on the coating, which worsen the appearance and can lead to metal corrosion.

In order to avoid such effects and preserve the original shine for as long as possible, periodic protective polishing of the car is necessary. Even when buying a new car in the salon, it is better to immediately do a protective treatment if it is not included in the factory package. The same applies to used cars. In this case, polishing will not only create a protective layer, but also give the coating a shine, as if you have a new car. If there are places on the body with serious wear of the coating, before applying a protective one, it is necessary to do a deep or restorative abrasive polishing. It will smooth out or completely remove minor scratches and scuffs.

Types of protective polishes

Unlike restorative, protective polishing of the body is performed using non-abrasive polishes. Almost all of them contain wax of mineral, vegetable or animal origin, and have excellent water-repellent properties. The only drawback is short—lived. More resistant polishes are made on the basis of polymers, they last longer on the body coating and protect more reliably. For example, Teflon polish, which has high chemical and thermal resistance.

Today, new unique products based on the most advanced technologies have appeared on the market of protective polishes. For example, liquid glass interacts with the paintwork at the molecular level and forms a very strong film that lasts up to three years.

You can make a protective polish with your own hands, but it is better to entrust it to experienced specialists. Professional polishing of the car is carried out in a special room, and in no case outdoors. The polishing process is preceded by a preparatory stage: thorough cleaning of the body from plaque, bitumen stains, treatment of chips and scratches. Special equipment is used in the work, which allows you to give the coating perfect evenness and shine.
