And the battery ran out again, now the starter refuses to work. But yesterday the battery was fully charged. The night passed, and all the battery power disappeared. What is the cause of the current leakage? Who is the culprit in the battery drain?
1.Forgot to turn it off
The banal reason is to forget to turn off the dimensions, the radio or the heating of the glass. The owner of the car is to blame for this. I have to pay for my absent-mindedness. And there are also energy consumers who are powered even when the ignition is off. It is worth checking before closing the car whether all the devices are turned off. Also, the culprit of battery discharge are children who were allowed by the owner of the car to sit behind the wheel. It is interesting for children to twist and click various knobs and toggle switches. Thus, no one followed up, and something remained turned on in the car.
2.Incorrect connection
Another reason for a low battery is incorrect connection of the device. For example, incorrect connection of the radio. Some craftsmen connect the receiver past the ignition lock, and as a result, the radio still receives power even when the ignition is turned off. An incorrectly connected anti-theft system also consumes energy. Of course, the anti-theft device should consume current in standby mode, but this current is not so high that the battery runs out overnight. The same applies to other consumers, for example, a navigator or a recorder connected through a cigarette lighter and not turned off before leaving the car.
3.The battery is not fully charged
Another reason for battery discharge is frequent starts and stops of the engine at low mileage. The battery simply does not have time to charge while driving. And it seems that everything is fine with the battery, but in fact, the load is excessively large, and there is almost no charge while driving. As a result, the car owner cannot start the engine the next day. This should be taken into account and with such low mileage, do not consume a lot of energy.
4.Dirt on the battery
The cause of the current leakage is the usual dirt on the battery and other electrical equipment. Many drivers don’t look at what’s going on under the hood. If the car is driving, then that’s enough for them. But dust, traces of oil, antifreeze, salt during winter driving – this accumulates on all elements of the engine compartment. In addition to dirt, the cause of leakage is also unusable wiring, where there is partially no insulation.
